The
skin of the body is a specific envelope
which protects our body from the outside.
It is an effective barrier against
cold, heat and potentially harmful
environmental factors. Its complex
texture is principally formed of 3
main layers:
The epidermis is the superficial layer
whose function is to protect the skin.
The dermis gives the skin its resistance
to tearing and its elasticity when
stretched
The hypodermis is a protective mattress
as well as the body's energy store
contained in the adipose tissue.
The
skin remains delicate and has specific
nature. Its reactions depend on our
general state of health, our nutrition,
our hygiene habits ect. It reflects
the different stages and ages, which
form a woman's life.
At each of these stages, the skin
and the body in general undergo physiological
changes:
Cellulite
A consequence of a typically feminine
hormonal phenomena, cellulite is characterized
by a series of changes to the adipose
tissue, which take place one after
the other and in the end lead to the
formation of deep-seated and very
resistant cellulite. This kind of
cellulite is characterized by skin
with "orange peel" appearance.
The first change that takes place
is an excessive, localized storage
of fats, which is followed by glycation
of the surrounding tissue and finally
reduced blood circulation. Consequently,
major water retention occurs, this
leads to poor elimination of toxins
and fats. From this point on , the
process becomes a vicious circle.

Cellulite,
a phenomenon affective 95% of the female
population, is characterized by hypertrophied
adipose tissue, which is composed of
clusters of cells called adipocytes.
These adiposytes are specialized in
the storage (lipogenesis) and release
(liposysis) of fats. When an imbalance
occurs between lipogenesis, which accelerates
and lipolysis, which slows down, cellulite
occurs. Adipocytes, veritable energy
store cupboards, become hypertrophied
and can even, when they reach theyr
maximum storage capacity, cause the
number of adipocytes to increase.
Cellulite is accompanied by the surrounding
connecting tissue becoming rigid, which
gives the surface of the skin a dimpled,
or commonly called "orange peel
skin" effect.
Reduced
blood circulation also occurs that consequently
leads to water retention and poor elimination
of fats and toxins.
